Curation 06. Fall in Upstate New York
A curated dose of escapism, featuring fall in Upstate NY
Without fail, every time the fall season rolls around I dream of a trip to the East Coast, and more specifically, to Upstate New York. While I’ve visited New York City many times, I’ve never ventured beyond the city limits, however over the years I’ve slowly been collecting places for my “one day” wishlist. So, as fall is fast approaching, I thought I would channel my daydreams into a curated dose of escapism, this way we can all (digitally) transport ourselves to Upstate New York. From scenic drives through the foliage, to cozy coffee shops and antiquing, I feel like this region fully embodies the fall season and I hope this post will provide a little taste of its charm.
New York friends: I’d love to hear from you too! If you’ve tried out any of the places below, or have recommendations of your own, please drop them in the comments.

The Villa at Saugerties: An intimate, luxury bed and breakfast, with Mediterranean vibes (Saugerties, NY)
Callisto Hilltop House: A design-forward Airbnb located on a 63 acre farm. (High Falls, NY)
Rivertown Lodge: A 27-room lodge conveniently located in the center of Hudson. (Hudson, NY)
The Henson: If I had to choose one place for a stay, it would be this newly opened, dreamy hotel in the Catskills. (Hensonville, NY)
Autocamp Catskills: For those looking for an adventurous, yet still luxurious stay. ((Saugerties, NY)
Eastwind Lake Placid: Located in the heart of Lake Placid, this Eastwind hotel elevates cozy cottage style. (Windham, NY)
Wildflower Farms: This hotel by Auberge Resorts is the perfect 5-star option for those interested in nothing less than the best. (Gardiner, NY)

First Bloom: A small town corner store by Alison Roman, featuring local produce, coffee, freshly made food and more. (Bloomville, NY)
Paracasa: Find coffee, pastries and provisions at this perfectly quaint Catskills shop. (Hensonville, NY)
Brunette Wine Bar: Snacks, small plates and low-intervention wines. What better way to spend an evening? (Kingston, NY)
Feast & Floret: Combining two of my favorite things: Italian food and flowers. (Hudson, NY)
Stissing House: Book a table for dinner or attend one of their “feasts” in their barn. Be sure to check out their calendar of special events. (Pine Plains, NY)
Fortunes Ice Cream: An iconic ice cream shop featuring seasonal flavors made from local Hudson Valley dairy. (Tivoli, NY)
Rosie General: Stocked with all the essentials you could want, from fresh bakes, sandwiches, coffee and more. (Kingston, NY)

Clove & Creek: With locations in both Hudson Valley and Cape Cod, stop in to browse their selection of home goods, books and more. (Hudson/Kingston, NY)
The Quiet Botanist: A beautiful lifestyle brand with a newly opened storefront featuring everything from florals to chocolates, teas and other apothecary-inspired goods. (Hudson, NY)
Pidgin: An elevated selection of antiques and objects. (Oak Hill, NY)
Luck Dragon: As a lover of all things stationery, this art & supplies shop is on my wishlist. (Delhi, NY)
Village Coffee & Goods: Stop in for coffee, lunch, baked goods and gifts at this Kingston shop. (Kingston, NY)
Kabinett & Kammer: While there could be an entire guide on antiquing in the Hudson Valley (and there are,) this shop is one that’s on my list. (Franklin, NY)
do |
Visit Montgomery Place Orchards Farm Market: Would a visit to upstate NY in fall be complete without some sort of farm visit? Stop by for apples, flowers, and more fresh produce. (Red Hook, NY)
Go antiquing: As mentioned above, this region is known for their antiques and I’d love to go on a treasure hunt for some unique finds!
Scenic drive through the Adirondack foliage: Even a simple drive can be the most picturesque during this season.
Gore Gondola ride: Confession: I’m not a huge “adventurer.” While I love spending time outdoors, it usually comes in the forms of nature walks or some other low-intensity activity. If you’re like me and wanting to enjoy nature without the action, a ride on the Gore Gondola sounds like the ideal option.
Greenville Drive-In (closes mid October): If you find yourself in Upstate NY early in the fall season, you may still be able to catch a showing at the Greenville Drive-In, which seems like a quintessential fall experience in my opinion.
Farm Dinner: When it comes to fall dining, I imagine a very cozy dinner, maybe at a farm or in a barn (as at the Stissing House,) featuring candlelight, warmth, and hearty foods. *P.S. if anyone knows of a great location offering such dinners, drop them in the comments!
Workshop at Luck Dragon: Not only would I stop into Luck Dragon for their selection of supplies, but I’d love to attend one of their creative workshops.
