Thank you for giving us a glimpse into your creative process! I love hearing how other creatives go about bringing their ideas to life and am curious about your actual brainstorming methods.
As a paper and pen person, I sometimes find that going through development phases digitally gets overwhelming but then having notes and lists jotted down everywhere feels equally chaotic. Do you have a preferred method for organizing these early creative phases? I loved your tip about looking for naming inspiration, and I'm wondering if you have other tangible brainstorming techniques/methods that you could share!
Ohhh great question!! I will say, I do believe there is an unavoidable chaos that usually comes during the brainstorming phase. I agree in that I tend to prefer putting pen to paper, and I do both a mix of that and digital note taking. Pen to paper for me is usually for quicker ideas and mapping out certain elements, really more of a mental notepad. Digitally, I create a “hub” of sorts on Notion and create a few main documents (I.e. competitive/market research, messaging, etc.) I try to refine as I go, and once I feel like I’m in a good place I create an “Overview” that clearly summarizes all of my research, notes etc.
Thanks for sharing!! I love Notion but for some reason it’s never stuck for me. I like the idea of using it as a hub for projects though. This has inspired me to give it another try!
Notion can be super complicated, so I’m not surprised you didn’t stick with it! I personally use the most basic features, but the simplicity works for me and if I ever get the motivation to get more advanced with it, I’ll cross that bridge then🤣
I love how you’re weaving storytelling into the branding process—Postal Projects is such a clever name, especially with its nod to travel and print materials! Your approach to research, especially consulting international real estate agencies and studying the Paris rental market, makes this feel like it’s going to be something truly special.
I love this. Currently in the process of building a brand myself and I always enjoy the ideation and research phase. Excited to read part two of this series!
So excited for you, Maddy and I can't wait to see this unfold! There's something really magical about building something from scratch and I loved hearing about your process. Can't wait for part 2 and everything ahead.
As someone who is quite entrepreneur-ery, it's still great to have a look behind-the-scenes at your thought process (and actual process). I'll be starting my own business in a couple of years after I qualify as a counsellor, but I already know the name and some of the services I'll provide. I enjoy posts like these because they help me refine my ideas. Looking forward to part 2!

Thanks for reading Meagan! And agreed. Ideation and research are my favorite parts (and I can easily get stuck there for too long as well😆)
