OMG I love zines! I feel like they’re having such a comeback in the print world. Such an approachable, fun way to create something tangible. Keep me posted if you end up creating one!
I love it! The zine. The vantage point of the micro projects. What a great way to begin moving a massively large project forward in a tangible and accessible way. Plus micro projects can act at Minimum Viable Products to test interest.
Congrats on your zine! Looks beautiful. And thanks for this piece. I am a total fan of breaking down bigger tasks into smaller tasks and to be honest I had not think of breaking down dreams into smaller dreams so thanks for this new perspective I’ve just gained today.
Wow. I love this! What a great offering and insight. DREAM is that I want to be in joyful service of an engaged community of women where I can guide them through writing to process their past and blocks to come back home to themselves. I've hosted on women's retreat where I did this and it was so powerful and profound but I'm struggling with actually scaling it down and making it digital to reach more women on the day to day. Thoughts?
Thanks so much for reading Jessy! I love the vision and purpose your work holds🤍 As for your question, I have a few ideas off the top of my head! I would first ask how hands-on or passive would you imagine this project being? For a more passive offering, you could create some sort of digital workbook with writing prompts/exercises to guide women. Another more hands-on idea would be to create a community-based outlet, perhaps a paid version of your Substack, specifically designed around writing practices/workshops, and connection🤍
Totally agree Maddy - breaking down big goals so small ones and/or finding ways seemingly unrelated projects can build your portfolio to get you to the bigger ones.
I love the big dream - micro project approach! My favourite question to ask people at the dinner table is "What would you do if money wasn't a thing?" which is totally geared towards people's biggest dreams. Once they've shared what it is, I then ask them what they could do that makes them feel like they're living that dream in everyday life. For example, my big dream is to own a vineyard one day. Micro project? Maybe grow some vegetables on my patio. It would provide me with a similar feeling of tending to plants and growing something that's my own.
OMG I wish I had known about your zine!! I totally would have purchased it!!! Do you follow @neurgasm on TT/IG? I think you'd LOVE it. They have the same type of "sense of place" idea but they use AI to generate what these types of retreats/spaces could look like. It's really incredible.
Haha thanks Alison! It was a year and a half or so, and I created such a small batch! I haven’t heard of it, but will be sure to check it out. Thanks for sharing 🤍
I never knew what a zine was until today. You have totally inspired me to make one of my own!

I love that Katharina! Such a beautiful vision, and a patio garden sounds like the perfect micro project
This is so inspiring & I'll be referring back to this post I'm sure! Thanks so much for sharing
Thanks so much Sydney! Happy you found it helpful🤍
